Problem: Frontline workers operate in high-pressure environments where human connection is scarce. Our research revealed that finding housing resources is complex, and workers need tools that reinforce—rather than disrupt—their workflow.
Solution: We are building a digital platform that leverages Large Language Model (LLM) AI to curate public and private data. The goal is to let technology handle the "invisible work" so workers can focus on compassion.
Vision & Values
Before writing a single line of code, we defined our "North Star" to ensure we weren't just building tech, but Technology in Service of Care.
We established four core values to guide every decision:
1. Relationships First: We work with communities, not just for them.
2. People Centred Care: Technology is a tool to deepen connection, not replace it.
3. Closing the Tech Gap: Challenging inequities in who gets access to advanced tools.
4. Useful by Design: Ensuring everything is practical for real-world contexts.
Research Strategy
We are currently conducting discovery research with partners like Scott Mission and Covenant House to validate three critical themes:
1. Letting User Needs Drive: We hypothesize that frontline workers have unique search workflows that differ significantly from the general public.
2. Perceptions of AI: We believe low AI literacy and trust issues could limit adoption, so transparency is key.
3. Identifying a Differentiator: While tools exist, we believe the "right" resource that handles the "invisible work" has not yet been created.
Human vs. Tech
Our research reinforces our Mission: Helping Helpers, Everywhere.
We found that human empathy is a scarce resource. Therefore, our design goal is to create a world where frontline workers spend their time on human connection, while technology takes care of the rest. We are designing the AI to act as a supportive partner, not a replacement.
Wireframes & Concepts
Guided by our value of being Useful by Design, we began visualizing the solution.
We moved from broad concepts to specific Jobs to be Done statements. We are currently testing these Mid-Fidelity wireframes to ensure they reduce the burden on workers and bridge the digital literacy gap identified in our research.
The left side represents V0 (our initial concept), while the right side showcases V1 (the refined direction informed by research and feedback).
The Roadmap
Current Status: Validating hypotheses with frontline staff at partner organizations.
Next Steps:
Synthesize findings from the "Perception of AI" theme to refine the UI trust markers.
Move from Mid-Fidelity prototypes to High-Fidelity production.
Finalize branding to align with the "Compassionate" voice defined in our values.
